Typically our athletes cross over from a variety of elite sporting backgrounds, such as: Rugby, Athletics, Track Cycling, Weightlifting and more. Many of our athletes have been competing in elite sport internationally for years before they transition into the world of Bobsleigh and Skeleton.
Our athletes have been seen on top of the Athletics World Championship podium and been on the field with the Wallabies and breaking world records before coming to BSA. If you have a love for sport while chasing break-neck speeds and an adrenaline rush, maybe you can become the next BSA athlete on an international podium.

HOW TO BECOME A BOBSLEIGH OR SKELETON ATHLETE
The vast majority of our athletes have been recruited through our talent identification testing camps, which are held annually in Australia. If you think you have what is takes to compete in Bobsleigh or Skeleton, this is what you need to do:
Complete your athlete resume.
If you’ve meet our minimum standards, we’ll send you an invite with details for the upcoming recruitment camp.
Once you’ve displayed your physical prowess, you’ll be invited to an on ice development camp which are typically held in Canada or the United States.

Athletes in cities from coast to coast are invited to be assessed against our recruitment standards, which include various tests such as sprints, jumps, throws, and barbell lifts.

We use a combination of physical tests to help identify capabilities that may translate to strong potential across Bobsleigh and Skeleton. Both sports require different physical abilities and skills which we benchmark against each development stage of each sport.
We assess the characteristics of every athlete, their stage of their development, and their future potential on a World and Olympic stage.
